A fillable, printable worksheet for planning the MA dissertation, with guidance on the reaction paper and the essay and the criteria both are marked against. Written for the core module shared by MA Japanese Studies, MA Korean Studies and MA Chinese Studies. Nothing a student types leaves their own browser.

Connections and Intersections: Core Aspects of East Asian Studies is the compulsory Semester 1 module for the three East Asian studies MA programmes at SOAS. It teaches comparison across the region and across disciplines, and it is where students first turn a lecture observation into an argument they have to defend.

Colleagues are welcome to adapt these materials with attribution. Students on the module should follow the assessment briefs on Moodle, which govern where they and this page differ.
